This restaurant review is on Outback Steakhouse. It is a very opinion based review. It is also a good example for learning outcome one. The audience for this review is people who are interested in the restaurant. The purpose of the review is to show people that it is a good place to bring a family or a good place to go out for a date. Since the purpose of the review is to get people to go to Outback the structure of the writing is very important. The writing starts off much differently than most do. It begins with “Great appetizers! Great steaks! Great burgers! Great service! Great restaurant! So I guess that means I like the Outback Steakhouse. Let me tell you why.” This sounds like something that would go into a commercial. It is very advertising. It really overwhelms the reader in a good way. It talks about all the good things the restaurant has to offer and explains from there. Also this review does a great job explaining that Outback isn’t like a fast food place but it also isn’t very fancy. For example it says “The other thing I like about Outback is the casual atmosphere. You can be wearing shorts and a T-shirt or jeans and a casual shirt and fit right in.” This again shows the purpose because it is more informational and shows the reader what is expected if you go to this restaurant. Also this review brings you through the process of going to this restaurant. It first talks about what you can wear and the prices. Then it starts to talk about food and the service of the restaurant. It is set up in that way to again back up the purpose of showing you the restaurant and getting you to go there.

I agree with your purpose of the review which is to get the readers to be intrigued by the food and atmosphere. I also agree with how the review illustrates it’s a casual and laid back restaurant but has delicious Australian food. I read that the beginning of the review sounds like it could be a commercial and I think that could make the restaurant look more appealing and better for the costumer eye. I think it is beneficial for a restaurant review to show the costumer what to expect when coming to the restaurant. You did a good job showing the audience and purpose and I see that you related it to the review by using good quotes from the review. Good job, man.
ReplyDeleteHey Elias, I am commenting on your blog. I just wanted to say that I think you used a lot of good examples of why the author of the review likes Outback Steakhouse. I also think that you pulled some very good text examples. They show how the author of the review was trying very hard to make the readers want to eat at Outback Steakhouse. One bad thing is that I think you say "it" a lot. I think you could replace some of the its with different words, or maybe combine some of the sentences so you wouldn't have a bunch of small sentences. Ya feel me? Other than that, I agree with your statements made in your blog because they express what the author of the review wants to get across to his readers.
ReplyDeleteElias, I agree with the purpose of the review because it was obviously trying to get people to go to Outback Steakhouse. It was not trying to tell them that it was a bad restaurant. The review did a good job of what to expect when you go to this restaurant. This review does almost have a T.V. commercial feel to it. You did a great job showing that the purpose and audience was used to structure the restaurant review. You did a great job pointing out the "Great appetizers" and things like that. Oitback Steakhouse is well known but this review gets deeper into the food and not just the atmosphere so it was still like a commercial in that way
